Curcumin found in turmeric may play a role in helping prevent or treat certain cancers such as breast, prostate, pancreatic and colorectal cancer.

Enhance intestinal health

Turmeric is used in medicine to treat digestive diseases. Curcumin’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties may contribute to gut health by reducing inflammation. A 2015 study found that turmeric could be used as a treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Can help reduce depression

Curcumin helps reduce inflammation and boost Serotonin and Dopamine. This helps alleviate symptoms of depression.

In a study with 60 participants divided into three groups; one took the antidepressant Prozac, one took a gram of curcumin, and one took both. After six weeks, the group using both performed best.

In addition, curcumin in turmeric also helps stimulate the gallbladder, which is used by the liver to remove toxins from the body.
