Suns List Three Major Priority Acquisitions This Offseason to Play Alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker

The Phoenix Suns are aiming to bolster their roster with major acquisitions after the Minnesota Timberwolves swept them in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.

Despite having one of the most expensive rosters in the NBA, the team underachieved, ranking fifth in total cap allocations with $195 million in 2023-24. Despite this, the team is willing to spend more in pursuit of success.

The Suns have three roster needs they prioritize this offseason, according to team insider John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports in his Burns & Gambo podcast with co-host Dave Burns.

These include a point guard capable of playing over 20 minutes per game, an improved backup big man beyond Drew Eubanks, and a youthful, athletic wing.

Playmaking and depth were an issue for the Suns last season

The Suns’ playmaking deficiency was a burden on the team last season, mainly after they traded Chris Paul to acquire Bradley Beal last summer.

Their new trio of stars, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, struggled to find synergy as ball-dominant players, with Durant expressing frustration over his offensive role.

The lack of depth also became an issue, as they had few quality players beyond their starting five.

Grayson Allen emerged as a lone bright spot off the bench by leading the league in three-point shooting percentage, shooting 46.1 percent from deep.
