“We were like oil and water”: Sylvester Stallone Fired Keanu Reeves’ $103M Thriller Co-Star to Replace Her With ‘Speed’ Star Sandra Bullock That Terrified Oscar Winner

Sylvester Stallone has established himself as a leading star who has built an enormously successful acting career on the strengths of his cinematic genius and over-the-top stunt work. Stallone has starred in dozens of big-banner, action-packed, thrilling projects which have helped him cement his top spot in the film industry. The actor has been in the movie business for decades, and throughout his journey in showbiz, he received many prominent accolades and top-billing roles.

In 1993, the legendary star appeared as John Spartan in the Marco Brambilla-directed movie Demolition Man opposite Sandra Bullock, who played Lenina Huxley. However, Bullock was not the initial choice to play the character. Keanu Reeves’ Point Break movie co-star Lori Petty got the part. She got fired from the project due to her alleged claims that she did not get along well with the Rocky movie star.

Sylvester Stallone has proved why he stayed on top of his acting A-game since he stepped into Hollywood to become a star. The actor has showcased his multiple talents in the entertainment domain, and even at 77, the actor is not showing any signs of slowing down, for he is passionate about his career. Stallone has redefined what it means to be an influential star in the competitive industry. 

However, the Paradise Alley star has committed his fair share of mistakes in his career. He has reportedly rejected many intriguing roles in monumental projects, which could have added more feathers to his talent cap. Hollywood actress Lori Petty once revealed she nearly starred opposite him in his 1993 cult classic action-packed flick Demolition Man. However, after working with the actor for two days, she was fired from the movie and replaced by another actress Sandra Bullock.

According to reports, Petty got fired from the project due to potential creative differences. A production source at the time dished,

”Warner Bros. wasn’t all that happy with her dailies. They felt they could do better with someone else.”

There were rumors that The Expendables movie star was the reason why the actress got fired from the movie after she made bombshell remarks in one of her interviews that she did not get along with him, claiming,

“Sly and I were like oil and water.” 

Despite being the initial choice to play the role of Lenina Huxley in the movie, Lori Petty got fired, who was at the pinnacle of her career, and Bullock, who replaced her, it was a golden opportunity for her to work next to Sylvester Stallone as she hardly played any significant part before this.

Sandra Bullock easily ranks among the A-list actress in the entertainment industry. The actress has earned many top-level accolades in her flourishing career and played varied roles. Bullock got her first breakthrough role in Sylvester Stallone’s 1993 sci-fi flick Demolition Man.

The actress once revealed that she was scared of working with him in the movie, as he is one of the most legendary stars, and Bullock, at the time, was beginning her career, so this was a pretty golden opportunity, but it also made her nervous. 

She claimed they were filming an intimate scene in the movie, and she was worried about it. However, her co-star Stallone helped her ease. In an interview, the actress shared: 

 “I was a little scared. When I went in the first day and met Sly, he had golf tees up his nose.” 

Marco Brambilla-directed Demolition Man featuring Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock earned mixed reviews from the audience and critics alike and grossed $159 million at the global box office.
