Amber Heard took to Instagram on Tuesday to break her silence about her split from Elon Musk.

The actress’ post comes one day after Musk confirmed the split by commenting on one of the actress’ Instagram photos.

“Being in the public eye means having to explain yourself to so many people, so much of the time,” Heard captioned Heard captioned a series of photos of a pool bordered with the words “Give,” ‘Love,” “Life” and “Joy” spelled out in roses on Tuesday. “In this case, I’d like to remain more quiet.”

“Although we have broken up, Elon and I care deeply for one another and remain close,” added Heard, whose messy divorce from Hollywood actor Johnny Depp was finalized in January. “Thank you for the continued support, respect, and privacy during these difficult, very human times.”

The couple were first linked in late 2016 and went public with their relationship in April. In May, the pair were photographed on a romantic stroll in Australia, where Heard had been filming Aquaman.

ET learned of the split over the weekend and on Monday, Heard shared a split image showing her imitating Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

Musk, 46, initially commented “V cute,” along with a heart emoji, then added another comment explaining their separation.

“Btw, just to clear up some of the press storm this weekend, although Amber and I did break up, we are still friends, remain close and love one another,” he wrote. “Long distance relationship when both partners have intense work obligations are always difficult, but who knows what the future holds.”
