Tattoo artist Christine Fleming was “impressed” by her nine-year-old daughter Scarlett’s tattoo s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s after she had her ink a flower, heart and butterfly on her for “practice”

A mum claims she was ‘impressed’ by her nine-year-old daughter after she allowed her to give her simple tattoos for ‘practice.’

Christine Fleming, a tattoo artist from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, wanted to introduce her daughter, Scarlett, to her craft and decided to take the risk and allow her to ink her own skin.

The then-eight-year-old started her inking journey on fake skin at first but last year, her mum had her tattoo a simple heart on her leg.

Over the last 12-months, the youngster has continued to build up her s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s and has since inked a butterfly and a flower on her 33-year-old mum.

Speaking about her brave decision, Christine claims it went “surprisingly well” and that she was “impressed” by Scarlett’s s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s so far.

She said: “I let her do a tiny heart on my leg and it went surprisingly well. She’s really good at following instructions and I guide her through.

“She’s done a butterfly and a little flower. I’m not too worried about it being perfect or anything. I’m impressed with how it turned out.”

Christine explained that she decided to let Scarlett try her hand at tattooing after seeing other parents letting their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren try it out on social media.

She thought it would be ‘fun’ and suggested Scarlett try on fake skin first– which is less ‘forgiving’ than real skin.

While Scarlett loved it, Christine admitted that she did struggle.

Christine said: “It’s more leathery and less forgiving. It gets chewed up easier. It was tough trying to teach her on that. I figured I’d let her try on me.”

After being ‘surprised’ by the results, she let Scarlett try a more complicated butterfly stencil, which has apparently given her a confidence boost.

Christine said: “I pick something that will be easier for her. She’s really proud of herself. She’s got a confidence boost.

“She’s hard on herself if a line doesn’t go perfectly.”

But this year, Scarlett inked her mum a new cherry blossom flower – which she stencilled and tattooed all by herself. and took around an hour to do.

Her mum said that “they’re awesome” but Scarlett will have to wait until she is 18 to get her own ink.

However, she said that she won’t “pressure her to keep doing it, but it’s a different s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁 she’ll have.”

Christine added: “The nice thing about tattooing is you have your own freedom to travel and make your own schedule.”
