Angelina Jolie has enjoyed an emotional family reunion in Japan, catching up with her son Maddox, who has recently started college in South Korea.

The star, who is in the country promoting her new film, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, saw her son for the first time in two months, since she dropped him off at Yonsei University, amid emotion scenes. Also on board was her daughter Zahara with the trio all smiles as they strutted the red carpet for the multi-million dollar film.

Angelina looked stunning in a Ralph & Russo gown, while Maddox wore a simple black suit and T-shirt. Teaming with the theme, Zahara wore a black dress.

The reunion was a fun one for the family, after Angelina recently confessed she had wept the last time she saw her son.

‘I’m so proud of him,’ Angelina said. ‘I’m so excited, I feel like my world expands as their world expands. I learn so much from them and I love this stage.’

While the kids were clearly enjoying the spotlight, Angelina says that they don’t have plans to follow her into high profile acting careers.

‘None of my kids want to be actors,’ Angelina revealed. ‘They are actually very interested in being musicians. I think they like the process of film from the outside.

‘Mad is interested in editing. Pax loves music and deejaying.’

The red carpet appearance comes as Angelina has opened up about her divorce from Brad Pitt.

The star spoke to French Magazine madame and says that ‘she lost herself a bit’ after the 2016 divorce.

‘I don’t know what my fate holds but what I am convinced of is that I am in a period of transition, like a return to my roots, a return to myself. Because, I had lost myself a bit,’ she told the publication.

‘I think it happened as my relationship with Brad was coming to an end, then at the beginning of our separation.’

‘It was a complicated moment, where I didn’t recognise myself anymore, where I had become … how can I say … smaller, almost insignificant, even if it wasn’t necessarily visible’.

The star – who has Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox – also revealed the felt “insignificant” following her split with Brad and faced health issues.

‘I felt a deep and genuine sadness, I was hurt.’
