‘A real berating’: Chelsea coach was going nuts at 25-year-old in second half vs Arsenal

Journalist Alex Crook has claimed that Chelsea goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez went mad at Robert Sanchez is the second half against Arsenal.

He told TalkSPORT’s ‘PL All Access’ show that he berated him just moments before the Spaniard’s error set Arsenal on their way to a comeback draw at Stamford Bridge.

Sanchez will be extremely disappointed with himself after a slack pass set Declan Rice up to bring the Gunners back into Saturday’s game.

The Blues were coasting 2-0 up against their unbeaten rivals, before a nightmare end to the game saw them only leave with a point.

The 25-year-old’s passing has been the main point of question amongst supporters this season, with him being the number one since he arrived.

Jimenez berated Sanchez

Crook has now claimed that although his passing let him down for the Arsenal goal, it was actually moments earlier that really infuriated Jimenez on the bench.

He said: “I’ve got a little bit of sympathy. I was right behind the Chelsea dugout and a couple of minutes before his error that led to Declan Rice’s goal, the goalkeeping coach, Toni Jimenez, gave him a real berating for kicking the ball long, and pointed to where he wanted it on the left-hand-side.

“He actually tried to do that Sanchez, and he ended up passing it straight to Declan Rice.”

It remains to be seen whether Pochettino sticks strong by his goalkeeper who has been in goal for him in every single game so far.

If he does look to change, he will have fellow summer signing Djordje Petrovic waiting in the wings, after his addition from the MLS.

However, it would feel harsh dropping him based off the sole mistake, despite the magnitude of the error.
