After Lingering Through Prolonged Intense Pain, Patrick Mahomes Sheds Honest Update on What Almost Cost Him a Super Bowl

The Super Bowl LVII game ended with Patrick Mahomes emerging as the eventual victor. The Super Bowl MVP led the Kansas City Chiefs to their second championship run in the last four years. However, the Chiefs were not the favorites to win the whole thing and Patrick Mahomes played a huge part in the narrative. Mahomes and his ankle troubles loomed over the Chiefs’ final game of the season, but once again Mahomes found a way to rise above adversity. He, recently, opened up about that unfortunate event.

With the session having ended, Mahomes is having a blast during the offseason, making occasional visits to celebrity events. And prior to Mahomes gearing up for another ambitious season, the Kansas legend has another stop along the way.

A relentless recovery

It was the first quarter of the playoff game between Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chiefs were looking to secure themselves another win, and Mahomes ended up being tangled between two defenders on a hit. The QB1 of the Chiefs came out limping and looked visibly uncomfortable. Soon Mahomes received medical attention and eventually had to sit out during the second quarter.

This incident sparked concerns around Patrick Mahomes’ ankle as many NFL pundits felt that the Eagles would have an edge over the Chiefs. However, Mahomes proved everyone wrong and secured himself another ring. The offseason was meant for Mahomes to lay back and let the ankle recuperate. Still, there was genuine curiosity among sports fans, and recently Mahomes shared the present state.

“It’s good. It definitely took a lot longer than I expected to heal. But at this point now I’ve been able to run around taking golf balls, so the football round or whatever, and I’ve been in a good spot,” shared Mahomes, during a conversation with the legendary NBA on TNT crew.

Mahomes even bragged about his basketball s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s, while weighing the competition he and Kelce are up against. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are on their way to taking on one of the best backcourts in NBA history, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, in a game of golf. And while Curry appears to be a superior golfer, Mahomes felt he and Kelce can stand in the way of anyone in any discipline.

The deadly duo

June 29 is going to be marked on every sports fan’s calendar. The eighth rendition of The Match is underway and this time, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are teaming up to take on NBA greats, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. The opportunity marks a first for both Kelce and Thompson, while their teammates have a much richer experience.

Last summer, Mahomes made his The Match debut with fellow quarterback Josh Allen, but they ultimately folded to QB gods, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers. Steph Curry had a similar experience teaming up with Peyton Manning, but Charles Barkley and six-time major champion Phil Mickelson secured the win.

The Mahomes-Kelce tandem has been dominating the NFL for a while, but their counterparts are equally proclaimed. Curry and Thompson have seen their fair share of uphill battles, and certainly, both these legendary duos would be looking to add another feather to their hats.
