A number of Chelsea players returned to our Cobham training centre this morning as pre-season got underway ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino took charge of his first training session as Chelsea boss at Cobham as the Blues commence preparation for the 2023/24 season.

English trio Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling all checked in for training on Tuesday. Thiago Silva and Marc Cucurella also returned while Bashir Humphreys, Ian Maatsen and Cesare Casadei, all of whom spent last season out on loan, were among the younger players to be involved.

Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, who signed for the club in January, also reported for training on Tuesday.

Pochettino has already set out his demands to his new squad. He wants the Chelsea team to be full of leaders, who want to be at the club, to give everything for the badge.

He said: “It is exciting for us because we love good players, players with the capacity and then talent, but also we want people who want to be with us at this club and be really open to help the club achieve what we want.

“We need leaders, not followers, in every single area and we will push every person to bring their best and give their best for the club.”
