Idaho architect Macy Miller built this awesome tiny house for only $11,416.16. Starting in 2011, she designed it herself and worked for 2 years to bring the gorgeous 196 square foot home to completion.

The home is built onto a 24 foot long, 8-foot wide flatbed trailer. The siding is recycled pallet wood and much of the rest of the home is built with reclaimed materials.
By building the home on a trailer, Macy can avoid building permits and codes, paying only the DMV for licensing.

Update: Macy and her family added a small addition to this home in 2015, making it a total of 232 square feet. You can see photos of their 2015 renovation here. The total cost of the home, including the renovation, came in just under $13,000. Pretty incredible when you see how beautiful it is, inside and out!
They downsized in 2017-2018, moving into a renovated camper trailer while they set off on a national park tour. They are back in Idaho now, where you can follow their homesteading adventures at MiniMotives. You can also find tons of information there about the design and building process of this home.
